White Fluffiness...

My talented friend, Cindy made this pettiskirt for Grace...it is so fluffy, soft and white! I think every girl needs one.

I love this one, because it was as if she was playing dress up. She grabbed her bottle of lotion and stroller and off she went!

My new 50 mm f/1.4 arrived yesterday-demonstrated here.

On The Go

No more sitting around...that's too dull.

Annnnnd....she's off!

A little incentive to stand up and walk towards me...

Got it! This used to be my wallet, until it became one of Gracie's favorite things to chew on! Mark upgraded my wallet for me and this one now never leaves the diaper bag.

Even had Mark try and release her on my count...she was too quick!

(I've been getting some feedback on my lens posts, so these were taken with my 17-55 f/2.8 lens for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing).

I Like Green

Probably my favorite lens and the one that I use on the majority of my outdoor sessions is my Nikkor 17-55 mm f/2.8. I have had it just over a year and it's a fabulous lens! I loved the 50 mm for portraits and with the low aperature it was great indoor and out. But sometimes I wanted just a little more wiggle room, zooming in or out without having to move, having a little bit more of a wide angle, but keeping a wide aprature. This lens was the solution! As I mentioned I mainly use this lens outdoors, it certainly can be used indoors with good lighting. Here I wanted to capture Grace with the painting. If I were using my 50 mm there would not have been enough room for me to scoot back in the room (I already had the table and chairs pushed out of the way as far as they could go), I would of only been able to capture her (without the painting). With the wide angle I was able to get the effect I wanted and with the small zoom, able to crop in on her as well. Once the weather warms up later this week I will post some from outside, but pretty much any session I've done outside this is the lens that was used.

Now, on to green. I love it. I did a whole post about it once. There's probably more I could say about it.... I got this fun green basket recently, thanks Dawn!!

And one in b&w, Grace wasn't enjoying the basket, but I sure thought she was cute!

Fisheye Lens

Nikon Fisheye Lens 10.5 mm f/ 2.8 delivers incredible images with a 180-degree angle of view. Was it the 80's this style was popular, where people's faces looked all bulbous and wiiiide! You'll see some of Grant in a minute.

This is probably the lens I need the most practice and playing around with. Normally I would not have grabbed this lens to take pictures of Grant outside riding his scooter, but I forced myself...just to see. This is a fun lens and can get some cool results, I'm still learning how to get them.

So far I have enjoyed the wide openness it can bring to a shot, love the curvy earth effect!

It's been fun for big group shots like this:

And I love the effect it gives on landscapes:

So here are a few from the other evening. I got the iso all wrong...but it was fun playing around.

My Boy. See what I mean about the face.

Our forrest.

My awesome strap Diana got me for Christmas!

My favorite.

I definitely need more time with this lens.

Happy Friday!

Trying to be Patient

I recently sold my Nikon D80 camera body and 50 mm f/1.8 lens to my friend Alisha. I am now using the Nikon D300 and absolutely love it! I am trying to patiently wait for my new 50 mm f/1.4 to come, it's been back ordered for weeks! Actually it's probably good, I want to get to know my other lenses a bit better. I have been shooting in manual mode for a while now, but with the new camera I am finding myself thinking a bit more about the process, so that coupled with some fun lenses I have sitting in the bag I need to get playing around!

These two precious, pink, pics of Grace were taken with my 60 mm f/2.8 macro lens. It's a macro so it can get WAY UP close to your subject, but that's not all...It's also a great portrait lens (just like the 50 mm) and can be used as so, as seen here.

People usually ask what lenses I use the most, like the best, etc.. so maybe over the next week or two I will post some pictures taken with a variety of lenses and why I like and use each the way I do!
