I don't do Facebook...

...but I do have a good Facebook connection!

After I visited Meta (who does do Facebook) in Ohio, she posted a few pictures I had taken of her kids to Facebook and put my blog link. I have had a few people contact me from high school and one led to a friend, Brenna, whom I haven't seen since 8th grade. Come to find out she lives just up the highway! Small world. It was wonderful to reconnect with an old friend and true Northwestener!

Brenna came for a visit the other week and today it was my turn to visit her and her little farm! As soon as Gracie got out of the car and saw the animals she started making her animal noises...
Gracie meets pig:

Brenna (and Grace keeping her distance):

Do you know what I love about the below picture (besides the little girl in it?) That sun is from Corvallis Oregon! I know exactly where it was bought and I have some pieces from this same artist! And isn't this a cool barn door?

And now a question for all you Facebookers. I know it's become quite the craze, as I've noticed bloggers are now blogging less, I'm assuming they're Facebooking more? So, what's the greatness in it? Why would one need to Facebook and blog? I feel I have stayed in contact with most everyone I would want to...so what would be the benefit of joining this late in the game?

I joined Facebook about 8 months ago. I quit about 6 months ago. I had to chose between the two because facebook became very involved. And I herd a few virus and other horror stories that just turned me off.

So, I am still just a blogger. Some enjoy it I know.

I love running into a Westerner! Whenever I hear AZ my ears are tickled!!

I have both, but use my blog way more. I feel like I can journal and share ME more than I can on facebook. And then the whole blurb.com thing is an added bonus.

I LOVE the sun and the black/red barn.

I agree with Alisha. I feel limited to one liners and quips on FB. I use it to see what's going on with the rest of my family since they don't blog anymore. It also gets you "out there" if anyone wants to find you. This could be good or bad.

As always, LOVE the photos!

How fun to reconnect!!

Facebook started justa as I was leaving college and at the time you had to be a college student to even get a facebook account so I'm not going to lie...it kinda weirds me out when people that are older than me are on facebook. Especially people our parents age :)

(p.s. I recognize the sun on the door too and thought of your little pots!)

How fun for you to find an old friend WITH the benefit of living on a farm. Perfect!

I used to HATE FaceBook. Really. It annoyed me so bad that I stopped looking at it for almost a year. I do use it once daily now, though. I have reconnected with tons of high school and YSA friends. However, if you're already reconnected...it would be pointless. As far as blog vs FB...blogging is by far greater! No doubt about it. Not even a contest.

I do think I know why a lot of people become somewhat obsessed with it and let their blogs suffer, but I'm tired of typing now. We can chat later. :)

I think having a FB account is worth it. I have lived so many places and have had so many jobs that it has been nice just to see where people are at these days, even if we just reconnect briefly on FB. It really is what you make of it, and many people don't spend more than a few minutes every couples days on it. Just yesterday, I reconnected with an old family friend, and I can't tell you how excited my mother was to catch up.

I have both. I'd rather blog. Blogs are more for keeping up with closer friends and family. On facebook everyone and their brother adds you as friends and its gotten really slow too with the influx of people on it. I had to make an account in college for the American Marketing Association, and it is great for getting out info about events and such, and not everyone blogs so I do keep up with some family and friends on facebook, but I rarely check it. It does email you when someone contacts you, writes on your wall, etc. so you don't have to check it all the time.

I've had the EXACT same feelings as you Kim. I'm not sure that I could fit in in more reconnecting with people. I feel like I'm connected with those that really miss and I am at peace with that. Kind of reminds me of the "Good, Better, Best" talk from last year. Sometimes I even question if I am spending too much time in front of the computer now...I can't imagine making more time for the computer. So is that why Meta never updates any more?

That sun does look familiar. Was it bought at the Fall Festival? That is by far my all time fav festival.

I do have a facebook account- I set it up inadvertently so I could see Stacey Swan's photos. I rarely upload photos or do anything on it but it has been fun to reconnect with some random friends from HS and old mission companions/friends. I rarely look for 'friends' but I'll add them when asked. I like how you can write less than an email to someone but get a general idea what people are up to.

Blogging will always remain my choice of documenting. I agree with Diana- it's weird when people our parents age are on it.

So, one of Kirk's Facebook "friends" had a status recently that read: "I'm walking to the car." Now, come on, people!

I'm not into facebook either. I can barely keep up with my blog! Great pics as usual.

i post pictures on facebook.
plus- people tend to put daily statuses, so you can see what they're up to. it's like having a fake daily connection to people you never see. :)
i say, you should give it a try and see if you like it. :D

I love Facebook. I have a lot of friends that do not blog and I'm not sure that they look at my blog regularly. I write quick updates on Facebook about myself that I would not blog about. I like being caught up on old friend's lives.

DONT DO IT! Just kidding. I know it has it benefits. For me, it has been something that I haven't been able to keep up with. I signed up, and now I feel guilty that I've had no time to respond to people I haven't heard from since elementry school who are wanting to converse. Makes me feel bad, but when it comes to computer time, I had to draw the line.

you know I've noticed a slowing in blogging too-not that I can say much about my own lately. I do have a facebook account that I enjoy sporadically. I can say facebook hasn't replaced my blogging, it's a fun high school reunion. :)

When I first joined FB (after several "invitations" I finally said FINE!) I didn't get it but as it has evolved more recently I have loved it. It all depends on who you connect with and how they use it. I don't connect with every person I've ever known, I'm discriminating about it. But I am not in close regular contact with old friends and extended family members and even close friends back home. The majority don't blog, so I have found it really enjoyable to have that little glimpse into their lives here and there. I use the iphone app most of the time- it's a fun thing to check while waiting in the grocery line or something ;) just try it and see what you think :) Also, it seems to be good word of mouth/ friend to friend- type advertising for some of my photog friends. You can make a page, people can become "fans" and see the new pics you post, also if they "tag" themselves in photos you take of their family, that is further exposure...

FB...well, like Emily, I joined specifically to chat with her, Jules , Jaime J, Stacey and Andrea F and pretty much that was about it. I never looked at it really beyond that and don't think I had any pics of any significance on there. Then, about 6 months ago, there was a HUGE explosion on FB and I went from like 4 friends to over 100! I think some good marketing or something was the secret to their success and the fact that folks of ALL ages are on their, ie: my parents, my family from across the world, friends from every college and school I've ever attended, lol. It's neat, but a little overwhelming. I really just pop over there a few times a week, but I follow my blogs more frequently. I really don't have many blog followers, I haven't really given the address away to many people, so FB I can keep less personal and connect with more folks with a bit more privacy. Funny, huh since I have a LOT more security on FB ha ha. I'm not that cool though, so I'm not too worried about people stealing my life (like some other bloggers have experienced)
