When I woke up, still dead silence. It had been quite a while and the boys were still out. Mark called and they were down at the sand pit playing. I walked down to meet them, camera in hand. Grant was in pure heaven, sand in face and all.

We headed back home a while later, me commenting that all dads should get a paid day off mid week to be with their family. Grant was relishing in the one on one and me, thoroughly enjoyed my peaceful few.
Now comes the second and heroic act that warranted this post. As we were walking back around the lake Mark accidentally dropped Grant's ball in the lake. Immediate meltdown proceeded from our four year old and crocodile tears. This was his special Halloween ball Gigi had sent him. He cried and cried and I couldn't help but see the scene from Cast Away where Tom Hanks cries, "Wilson! Wilson!" Grant cried, "Call the police! Call the police!" After attempting to get it with a stick, which only further pushed it out to the lake, Mark did the unthinkable or I guess in a heroes mind the right thing.

I'm saying, "Don't get any of that water in your mouth!" (There are no swimming/diving signs all over the place and the water looks disgustingly filthy.)

What a hero!

Thanks Dad! I love you to the moon and back!

Ok, that was darling Mark! You get dad of the week award. Kim, aren't you so glad you have that camera atatched to you?
I love that you captured the entire memory on film. Amazing!!!
Did he smell???
What a cool daddy!!
I loved the blow by blow. John has thrown so many balls into the ocean or other body of water that we are near, and no one has gone after it. He is very deprived. Way to go Mark! You saved the day!
Amy
PS: Mike will NEVER stay home from work. I think he knows the sweet deal he has.
I literaly have a tear in my eye because that was so sweet of Mark to do that for Grant. What a good Daddy. (Remember my post about how I cry all the time :> ) Fun pictures. You should make a story board! And then frame it.
"Call the police." So cute.
I have to agree that this one of the cutest stories. I love how he was saying "call the police". Mark you are a great dad. How sweet. Grant looks so happy and Mark looks a little cold. So glad you took pictures of the event because that is pretty priceless.
That was a sweet story. The nice thing about blogging is you have these stories recorded where you might not take the time to write them in a journal.
Kim/Mark, was the quote "Thanks Dad! I love you to the moon and back!" in reference to the book, guess how much I love you? My Kids love that book, which I first heard at the conclusion of a full time mission from the Mission President (Jerry Roundy).
