My Friend Angela

Angela was one of the few reasons I shed a tear leaving Sumner (well, if I was being totally honest…balled as I said good-bye to her and her kids and then drove away). When I arrived in Sumner, Washington over two years ago I was in a bit of shock and had a hard time adjusting. I needed a friend, desperately. Angela called me up out of the blue to go to enrichment night at the church; she was friendly, talkative and easily likable. A friend I needed indeed. Our two boys were similar ages so we eventually got them together, once, then twice, three times, then, it quickly turned into seriously, like every day! The phone calls the night before to know what was happening the next day or minutes away. One of the great things about Sumner was how close everything was! Her house, our house, the park, the library, indoor play, church… I really miss that! Not only did we do things with the kids, but as a families we had dinner, went to a Mariner’s game, Angela was a very integral part in our race from Rainier to Ruston, Wheel of Fortune try outs, Play School (which she started up) and of course long phone conversations (she being the reason we went over in minutes one month!).

Angela was called as the primary president in the Sumner ward soon after we moved in and she was great. Grant loves her and she loves him and he knows it, he can feel it, she has always made him feel special even though he may have been being mean to her son, or even to her….and as a mom and friend that has meant the world to me. In the (what seems like short amount of time now) we became very close, so today when we were able to reunite in Portland, it was so special! The boys were ecstatic and ran up to each other giving hugs and kisses. Then, it’s like no time had passed. They played, sometimes great, sometimes not so great; they were loud and silly and ran around, and had fun at the zoo. Thanks Angela for driving all that way with two kids in the car to meet us. It was great to see you-we miss you like crazy!

Oh my goodness! That was so nice what you had to say about me! Thank you! I enjoyed every minute of our day! I would have driven even further to have seen you two! You know that, right! Pretty much I'm crying now, again! I miss you guys so much.

I love what you did to that last picture of Kyah!!! I want to blow it up and frame it! Can you send it to me! I think I'll have to call you to tell you all the pics I want emailed, it would take too long to write down! You really are talented Kim!

For anybody reading this, I had a major issue with my lip being swollen, that's why I look funny!

It looks like you guys had so much fun -- it's obvious that the boys just love eachother. What a special day! Kim, it's amazing what you have accomplished in two weeks! You have memories to last until May -- that's for sure.
