Mark and I are going on 10 years of marriage and I wrote yesterday about how it was the date 10 years ago that Mark proposed to me. Mark wrote his version to the story on his blog.
I have to make clear something about the rings and tell my side....he talks about having a hard time choosing my diamond and that he should of gone with the biggest....My side of the story goes: We had looked at rings and I really liked the "simple" ones, no prongs holding up diamonds or sticking up in any way. I even found and almost chose a beautiful band with small diamonds set in (which would make a PERFECT 10 year anniversary band, HINT HINT)....but decided I wanted a single diamond ring. I decided I like a third carat, it seemed perfect. I told Mark specifically that I WANTED a third carat diamond, and NO bigger. Let me now say that Mark was VERY willing to buy me a much larger diamond, but this is what I requested. It seemed and is the perfect size, not too flashy and perfect for a channel set, which is what I wanted. So that's what I got and it is perfect! I couldn't imagine anything different, not to mention Mark has the matching band--of course I would never change it. Now, to be totally honest I do admit that there was a time when I maybe thought I wanted something a bit larger...you know how it goes girls, especially when it seems as if the trend today seems to be buy nothing less than two carats! But as I age in years and with each passing anniversary I wouldn't change a thing about that day we got engaged or the diamond.....
As a friend recently said and I couldn't agree more, what a ride it's been! I love the wear and tear you can see on the rings and the most important feature the circle and what it symbolizes...eternity for us. Now that's better than any of the biggest rocks found anywhere on earth!

How sweet. I had been toying with the idea of writing out my engagement story (it happened around this time of year, I don't remember the exact date), but I wonder if people would still like me after they read it.
I love your ring. And your right, a bigger diamond doesn't mean much than to say that you spent a lot of money on your ring.

Well said. And I know exactly what you're talking about.
