Progress

There was a break in the rain today, so Mark started assembling our garden boxes. On the opposite side of the large yard we have a pretty good sized area perfect for a garden. Last year we had beds tilled and cotton mulch brought in...and then nothing. We didn't do a thing, except watch the weeds grow to over three feet tall! You can still see remnants of the beds in the picture below. This year we're determined to get a garden started and this is the first step! I'm very excited!

Gracie is tied to the stroller, it's waaay too muddy and wet! She doesn't mind, for now.

This is my first real good look at the fence you had put in right after our visit. It looks great!!! How nice that Grace is that content just watching. I'm sure Grant is loving his tool time with Daddy.

Can't wait to see your veggies start to grow! We LOVE Preen -- get the vegetable garden variety. You have to put it on like 8 weeks before you plant any seeds or you can put it on directly when you add transplants. We've had terrible luck with seeds over the years that we've found buying the .89 cents veggie starter packs saves tons of time. Not only do your seeds often not come up but the quail eat the early plant growth so they have no chance. The only thing we do my seeds is beans and peas.

Good luck on your lesson tomorrow!

Those look awesome -- and that is going to be the perfect place for your garden. I think we might actually put one in, because I've been reading up on square foot gardening. How fun!
