An Outing...
A couple more preg shots:
As we were driving away we passed this old church and my eyes got big! I jumped out to snap a shot. The picture is not great and there are lots of shadows....but isn't this entryway amazing? click to enlarge
Months ago my friend Alisha had told me about Moorseville, a tiny town nearby and how it's a great place to take pictures. Yesterday we drove out together on a quest to take pictures and as I told Grant, go on an adventure. What a few blocks of pure treasure! It was absolutely beautiful; the houses, the streets, the old buildings, literally just a few blocks of an oasis off the highway!
The kids were content to just play with the bamboo sticks they found and were hard subjects to have stand still for two seconds! I took lots of pictures and just stared in wonder at how much more beautiful this place will be in the spring, summer and fall!
I was soaking in the adrenaline of what a perfect spot this will be to bring people back to photograph....I knew it it was too good to be true. As we were leaving a kind lady from one of the amazing homes I only dream about living in came out and told us about the city's new policy. No commercial photography....if you are taking pictures to earn money, you need to pay the city $500 for the year. So....I guess I will be just going back to take pictures for fun! Does anyone want to come along?

I didn't even notice how fabulous the doors and steps were on that church, I was too busyadmiring the patina of the walls. The first picture of Grant is fabulous! Thanks again for a fun late-morning trip!
Absolutely drooling over this town. Love that first show of Grant too.
I so love the first pic!
Wow--I've never heard of a town having such a policy. Beautiful shots!
OHHH MAN!!! I know the feeling, and it's so crushing. I have had the hardest time finding 'my locations' here in the portland area. Then, twice I have found them, and it feels like heaven, and then, I'll see the sign, NO PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAHPHY. I'm still stewing about it. Then, this past weekned, in the middle of a photoshoot, I was asked to leave L & C college because of their new NO PORTRAIT, NO PHOTOGRAPHER policy. Grrrrr. And this town you found, WOW! I was starting to drool just looking at your photos. It's like dangling candy in front of a baby, and then somebody takes it away. It does look like a good place to 'take a lot of fun' pics.
ps- do all little girls, back there, wear adorable tights?
I wanna come!
I have been very excited to see these pictures. I knew they would be fabulous!
All I can say is how can a place be so crotchety that you can't take pictures (especially portraits, in which the scenery is merely a backdrop)? I think it is rude.
Amy
I wanna come, too!
We had our architecture class field trip there and we had to do our final project on designing a building that we'd use either at one of the churches or the post office ...it was fun!
I love the pic of Nate sitting on Lisha's belly! That is so cute.
LOVE the pics!! I wanna come too!!
Umm Yeah! :) I need to try out my new camera too. These pictures are fantastic!
