I think Mark and I had little realization how emotionally, wonderfully intense our life would change when Grant was born five years ago. Yes, we knew we wanted a baby, we were excited, we knew we would think he was cute, we knew he would bring us joy and we knew...or thought we knew just how much we'd love him. Oh, how much we love him!
He has made life worth living in every sense. With all that happiness he brings (of course sprinkled with worries and at times frustrations) I fortunately can say I have experienced the epitome of love and joy only something such as the miracle of life can bring.
Grant has filled a place in our family perfectly where he was meant to be, my little best friend and Mark's little best buddy...right where he belongs.
We are leaving soon for Oregon and counting down the days with pure enthusiasm, because first we get to celebrate Grant's fifth birthday which he gets to have at Nana's house...he is beside himself with excitement.
As every mother wonders, how does a child grow up so fast? How can time fly, but at the same time feel like they were just born? Happy birthday to my boy....have I mentioned how much I love him? As we like to say in our little family, further than the moon and back!

How beautifully you put into words the feelings children bring into our lives!
That was really sweet. Love the first shot- what a cute expression on Grant's face. Happy Birthday Grant!
Five years-WOW!!! I remember when you brought him home from the hospital and he got to stay warm and cozy under the UV light. I love the first shot too! What a great mix he is of his mommy and daddy! Have a wonderful trip to Oregon.
Such precious pictures, such a precious boy.
I can't believe it's been five years since I got the phone call announcing his birth. Little did I know I was newly pregnant with my own little boy.
Because of this blog -- he will have so much documentation of the love you have for him. What a lucky boy!

Happy Birthday Grant. Five what a great age. Time flies so fast sometimes. I came across a picture of Grant when he was just a baby and you are your mom and Andrea were at my house after we moved to our house. Madie is "holding Grant", since she was only about 7 months old. She is leaning over Grant and sucking on his head. It made me laugh, I can't believe they were ver that small. Have a Merry Christmas in Oregon.
Happy Birthday GW. Love, DW
