The girls are gone and my boys return tomorrow, so I have some free time to myself and my blog.... I wanted to give a brief synopsis of how the weekend went (for those of you oh so eager to hear all about it!). And I think I have filled the quota of putting pictures of myself on my blog for at least a year....
One thing I have been blessed with in my life besides having a great family is having wonderful friends. A good friend to me is just as important as family no matter near or far, recent or old. But this particular group of friends is special. Special because we have been together since before we were teenagers. Over the weekend we discussed as we have many times before we don't think it's a coincidence that we ended up in each others lives. I have been extremely lucky. All of us are rooted and from Oregon, now spread all over the U.S. All of us have children ranging from one child to five! All of us have had challenges that differ. All of us have learned from each other.
So, what might a group of thirty something year old women do for the weekend?
*Pedicures, probably the best one I've ever had!

*An un-birthday party! Amy made the best chocolate cake, I'm sure she'll be posting a recipe on her blog soon.

We exchanged gifts and Sara brought us a craft to do and we made these signs with vinyl lettering: (click to enlarge...if you know us well, can you guess which sign belongs to who?)

*Talking....lots of talking.

*Pampering, sleeping, lounging.

*A bit of shopping.
*A lot of good food.
*Picture taking. Meta brought her baby and she was seriously the happiest little four month old I have ever met! That was until she got sick the last two days. I took many, many pictures of this little cutie to be posted later.

And of course more pictures of us:

Filled your quota of pictures of yourself, no I miss seeing you! Who was the lucky one to spend time taking the pictures? I love seeing you and your beautiful friends. I am thinking I want to steal this friends retreat idea!
And now can we see a picture of the five of you in middle school?
5 beauties. I am so glad you had such a great time. I want to see more pictures of the baby and all of you.

Is your sign the colorful one? If so, did you modge podge torn paper onto it and then put on the vinyl lettering? It's adorable!
Kim, It was fun to meet & chat for a minute with all of your friends. They were all so sweet. It looks like you guys had a great weekend. How is Meta's little girl feeling? Enjoy getting your boys home.
It looks like you had such a great time with your friends!! The last picture looks a little familiar in the background. You really do like that lake! It is a prime spot, I must say. You all look great!
I'm missing everyone already!!! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect weekend together!
What fun! Kim, you were so creative in making this weekend extra special with such fun activities and captivating pictures. You ladies all look so beautiful and modelesque. Okay, here's my guess for the signs:
Think big thoughts: Kim
Enjoy the little things: Meta
As for me: Sara
And either Heidi or Amy for the Families are like fudge.
My guesses for the signs:
As for me: Sara
Families are like fugde: Meta
The other 2 are a toss up between you and Amy. I think you're the Enjoy the little things and Amy's the "Think big thoughts"...but the green is throwing me off and making me think it's maybe yours???
p.s. the one above is from me :)

Looks like so much fun! Let us in on who made what! (I'm too nervous to guess)
Signs:
Kim-enjoy little things
Amy-big thoughts
Meta-as for me and...
Heidi-family nuts
Sara didn't do one, she was helping all of us do ours :)
These pictures made me so happy. How wonderful to have such amazing friends. And that you still get together like this. And I love these pics, I bet you girls will always cherish them!
What a great time you guys must've had! Fun to see pics of y'all in all your mommy glory - did you guys plan on all wearing black on picture day? :)
I'm going to comment here because I suspect it will never be found; but I am enjoying seeing five of my fourteen Mia Maids all grown up, beautiful as ever. You all drove me crazy back then, but now I envy your friendship that has lasted all these years. I wish I had been the teacher/advisor that stayed close year after year. I enjoy catching up with some of your goings-on by viewing your blogs. It is so awesome that you got together for a little reunion/retreat and that you've stayed in touch. You are all amazing women.
