Looking Forward

I like the phrase, looking forward. It can mean many things like being excited for something, anticipating the future, foreseeing the end of a goal, not looking back-leaving something behind, starting over, or just seeing what's ahead.

I have many things I'm looking forward to...in probably every meaning I just mentioned. But the things that I am most excited for are some upcoming getaways and visits from family and friends.

Mark and I have always loved road trips and Grant has always been a great traveler. Since moving to Alabama we feel as if our ventures have been limited. I have been itching...petty badly to get down to the gulf coast and spend a weekend at the beach. It's beautiful we hear, perfect white sand, warm water and nice weather. So, we are heading to Destin, FL this weekend and I couldn't be more excited....to just get away, to leave the computer at home, to let Grant DIG in the sand until he has blisters and relax with Mark.

When we get back I have many more forwards to look to: Four close girlfriends from my growing up years are coming all the way to Alabama to spend the weekend! As Mark says, "Too many hens in the hen house." So, he is taking Grant to Southern California to visit his Aunt, cousins and grandma and have fun in the sun! Then after that exciting weekend a week later Mark's parents are coming to visit. They haven't seen us yet here in the South, so it will be fun and there's nothing better for a grandchild than to be smothered with attention from grandparents! And it doesn't stop there.....my parents and sisters are then coming for Thanksgiving and you know what happens after that? Christmas is right around the corner and we fly home to Oregon! Now wouldn't you agree that's a whole bunch of happiness to have waiting and a wonderful way to finish off the year, I couldn't agree more.

The other day Grant was waiting for a friend to come play and was beside himself with excitement asking every five seconds, "When is he coming?" He finally said, "Mom, if I have something fun to do it will make the waiting shorter!" So true my son. And even though I have this barrage of things to look forward to, the waiting isn't going to be bad...I am blessed with rewarding things to fill my time. I am happy with the day to day things life brings us, I have made some outstanding friends to spend time with and we enjoy being a family.

So, here's to having your eyes set on what's to come, but being grateful for what's in front of you!

Kimberly--Where did this creative writing come from? You seem to be seeping out new talents right and left. I think it all started with your post about gray hairs.

I love looking forward too and planning. Don't they go hand in hand?...

Yeah to future trips!

Happy Day! Visitors and trips make waiting easy and help us control our patiences! I am not good at waiting or being patient unless it's something really really fun and then it's almost too fun to wait! I usually count down the days... :)

Enjoy the beach that is my happy place!

I loved reading this and am so happy that after October I only have to wait until December to see you again. May to October has been too long.

Counting down...

Beautifully put, I feel like lately we have had alot to look forward to and I love it, although I am with Grant and wished I had something fun to do to make the time go by faster! He is a very smart kiddo!

Have fun with all of your upcoming visits and vacations, it will be the end of the year before you know it!

I sometimes struggle to strike a balance between enjoying a calm, clear schedule or having lots going on. This was a perfect way to look at it. Enjoy all your fun, both present and upcoming!
