Lawrence County, TN

We mulled over a lot of ideas of what/where to go for Labor Day. I thought I'd remembered a sign once on our way back from Nashville that said, "David Crockett State Park", so we looked it up and low and behold Lawrence County, Tennessee is where David Crockett called home. I was excited to go and see, because as a child I would play "house" and pretend I was married to "Davey Crockett" and listen to a Disney record and sing along...Davey Crockett, king of the wild frontier...

We traveled to Lawrence County and unfortunately the experience wasn't that stellar. The museum was less than impressive and the town a little run down. The state park was big and had areas of camping, the lake was pretty, but the paddle boats were all taken and there was a long waiting line.

On a side note about Lawrence County- it's also where Fred Thompson is from, the guy who is running for President and acts on Law and Order. They had a little store for him and he's going to be there next weekend for a big wahoo.

"Big wahoo" -- love it! I also love seeing pictures of you. The Amish photos remind me of the Sherry house. How fun!

Funny Amy said it reminded you of our house- our mom does have 1 room dedicated to them- which we call the amish shrine. Love the last pictures of you and grant.

The Amish Country photos look straight out of a magazine. I smiled at the children drinking sprite. You don't strike me as the type who'd be the wife to Davey Crockett. Did you wear coonskin hats?

I, too, love the shots of Grant and yourself. :)

Love,
Leslie

oooo- I used to sing that Davy Crockett song, too. My mom would play it on the piano. Catchy little tune, isn't it? I'm so glad you got to go DO something! :)

That sounds enjoyable... the Amish country part mostly, although I need to get to a lake soon. I am going crazy!! I use to escape to Goldwater Lake in Prescott and watch the sunset on the water ("Gold"water Lake is golden in the evening). You have been to some awesome places close by recently. Shawn and I regret not seeing as much in Houston while living there, and want to take advantage of living where we do. Do you have any tips??

Great pictures of your family. Are you going to frame them? I love seeing the Amish community that is so cool.
