Amish Community

A friend of mine, Jennifer had mentioned an Amish community in Tennessee and when we researched going to Lawrence County, we found that it was right nearby. This part of the day was much more exciting than Lawrence County (read previous post). It was very fascinating seeing these farms, the people out working, the buggies, children were in school, the stands they set up to sell things, their clothing, listen to them talk...everything about it. We meandered through the streets, I was tyring to be discrete and respectful in my picture taking-it really was a beautiful site. It was peaceful and intriguing. We stopped and bought some peanuts and rocky road chocolate. We were able to talk with Grant about people, cultures, religions and have him see with his own eyes. He thought it was neat how these people were living like the 'pioneers'. There was more to see, a place worth going back to-should be beautiful in the Fall!

Love the Amish country. One of my favorite things we did as kids (while living in PA) was to go to the amish market. They are a beautiful and intriquing people.

I can just picture you sneaking your camera to get some shots. That is too funny. Did any of the adults shoo you away or were you on stealth mode the whole time?
