Publishing

When my sister Jessi was visiting we all watched the movie, Miss Potter. It was a wonderful show about the life of Beatrix Potter. Grant was fascinated to say the least by the "publishing" part of the movie and ever since has "published" many books. It's fun to see him get out his materials and get to work. He has never been a letters, numbers, sit down and color, draw or write type boy. Over the past few weeks however he is constantly writing, asking how to write things and doing some very "inventive spelling!" This is the first creation by Grant after watching the show:

"Hawaiian Tree" Written and illustrated by Grant.

Once upon a time there was a tree and he was happy and he smiled.

"Strawberry" As told by and illustrated by Grant:

This is a strawberry who likes to be eaten by a boy who loves strawberries who is Grant G. But, the store was out of strawberries, the store felt bad and so did he. He didn't want to eat them all. But, so he decided to build his own strawberry place. He could share with his family and people all over the place. And he loved strawberries. Happily ever after. So, he loved and loved and loved them and he loved to eat strawberries. He loved strawberries so much that when the people tasted the strawberries they decided strawberries were their favorite food too. The end of Grant G. book.

Sometimes Grant chooses to write himself or have me be his scribe. I usually can't keep up with him (does anyone know short hand?), but the best part is when he tells his stories in his own voice and the intonations....so much emotion....I will have to record it one of these days.
