One thing I appreciate about my dad is his love and interest of the outdoors. He and my brother, Lanson and friend recently returned from a four day hike in the Oregon desert near the Nevada border. Apparently it was a pretty tough hike through rocks, cliffs, desert....all the while with no trail! What started out as 15 miles turned into twice as much. We are all happy they returned and don't have reason to be on, "I shouldn't Be Alive" Discovery channel show. I don't know how they navigated, I think rock formations or something. When asked if this was the adventure he was seeking...he laughed and said, "Oh yes!" He sent me some pictures to edit and I thought I would share of his adventure.

The farthest west I've been is Salt Lake and that was a whirlwind wedding trip. The scenery from the hike is breathtaking! And I am completely enthralled with the outdoorsy type, since I grew up in the sticky buggy outdoors of Bama and never could fully appreciate spending much time out in it. Maybe we'll have to venture a bit west for our next camping trip...
Wow! A 30 mile hike? Through rocks and cliffs AND no trail? That makes our half marathon seem like a piece of cake! Of course we won't be able to enjoy the amazing desert scenery along the way....
My Dad the mountain man… I remember this one long road trip when we were kids where Jess and I were sitting in the VW Vanagan (sp?) coming up with all the different titles of what Dad was because he always seemed to know everything about anything. We came up with Curt the scientist, dentist, dad, farmer, gardener, hunter, chef, teacher, doctor (remember when he tried to stitch his OWN hand?), landscaper, mechanic, McGayver, builder, etc. etc.
Way to go Curt! I'm sure it was quite the adventure. Glad your home safe.
