OH MY!!

I was out doing endless yard work today and looked up at our garage window and saw this:

Oh, you need a closer look...OK:

Still don't see what I'm talking about....alright:

Poor dragonfly:

Seriously this web takes up the ENTIRE first window (look back at the first picture)...it's HUGE!

I don't think my pictures do this scene justice. I refused to get too close so I am holding my camera at arms length trying to squint to see through the viewfinder and push it as close as my whits could take. It's a pretty scary sight, with a pretty scary, big spider! Will someone please come get rid of it for us? I noticed it this morning and shivered a bit, went on with the yard work. When I went back out this evening to do some more yard work I noticed it had caught a dragonfly and was feasting on some other bug! I am not a spider person, but find this a bit fascinating, particularly the web...I wonder what tomorrow will bring...

...have I mentioned yard work is never ending....

I can't stand spiders. They are beautiful creatures, at their own distance from me though. Ig you don't mind me banging a shoe on your window, I will come get him... just kidding... ewwww gross! Anyways, good luck with the yard work!

Kim, just think of her as Charlotte, and you won't have any problem getting close.

I can handle spiders that are smaller than a nickel. Any bigger, and I turn into a screaming lunatic.

Never in a million trillion years would I come close enough to get a picture of that honkin guy! You are brave for even reaching out with your camera. Cool pics. I like how you did the post. I think I may lose sleep tonight thinking about spiders. J/K I feel for the poor dragon fly too. I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!!

I absolutly hate spiders! And yet I also was so intrigued by your pictures. I know I would not have been so intrigued to take pictures, I would gone and found the raid and killed that thing so that I knew that it wasnt going to crawl into my house. That gives me the creepy crawlys all over my body.

I am so with danakat! I did the exact same thing. I don't know what I would have done, I probably wouldn't remember anyway, I would have past out! Not a fan of spiders at all!

I totally got the willies looking at these. I will have to snap some shots of our nasty black widows that lurk around these parts. YIKES!

We get those spiders all the time in Texas and they creeped me out at first because they are so big! But they have great designs on their bodies. They like to build on windows, which is where we found our first one. They do a new web every day and if you look closely somewhere around the middle you will see where they make a zig zag pattern with thicker webbing. You will notice different things with new webs. They disappear in the fall, and we were actually sad when ours didn't return in the spring b/c we missed the web weaving, well, sort of!
