Aloha! When Mark and I went to Hawaii last September, we toured the Dole pineapple plantation and learned that a pineapple on the porch of your home means, hospitality. Mark mentioned how when we moved into our new house he wanted a pineapple on our porch. I thought, how silly, it would rot for sure! He again brought it up the other week-he really liked the idea and then it dawned on me that they probably make stone garden pineapples and I finally had an idea for his birthday gift! I was so excited to find this pair and they're green (I thought it went nice with our name)....so, please come on over, we'd love to see you!! (We went swimming this morning and Grant chose his swimsuit with care and said how much Dad would like it because it looked like Hawaii! Thought it was fitting for the picture.)
Finally the builders are getting some things done on our punch list. The first thing happened today and probably the most exciting for me; we got our two trees! As I was talking to Mark on the phone this evening I saw them out digging. I walked into the kitchen and Grant had taken his stool over to the door to watch....

Summer is winding down here in Alabama, as kids go back to school next week! As I was editing more from my photo shoot the other day, I couldn't help but smile at these....pure summer!

And lastly, my sis-in-law, Amy just started a blog. Another talented writer....check it out!

What a great gift!!!
What a wonderful idea! I wish I could think of something so thoughtful for Aaron's b'day coming up. I'm fresh out.
Great idea, great pineapples, great photos!
Those pineapples look simply amazing on your porch!
Hey, I happened to know that piece of trivia and always thought that would be a cool thing. And it is! Those are very cool pineapples. Now in Canada a red porch means vacancy and a green porch means you have a daughter available to wed. So make sure you don't paint your concrete porch green. Just FYI :)
I love the pineapples. Sentimental gifts are the best!!!
