Tear Soup

Grief is the process you go through as you adjust to the loss of anything or anyone important in your life. The loss of a job, a move, divorce, death of someone you love, or a change in health status are just a few of the situations that can cause grief. Grief is both physically and emotionally exhausting....Over the years you will look back and discover that this grief keeps teaching you new things about life. Your understanding of life will just keep going deeper.

Grandy's Recipe for Tear Soup
Helpful ingredients to consider:
a pot full of tears
one heart willing to be broken open
a sash of fitters
a bunch of good friends
many handfuls of comfort food
a lot of patience
buckets of water to replace the tears
plenty of exercise
a variety of helpful reading material
enough self care
season with memories
optional: one good therapist and/or support group

Directions: Choose the size pot that fits your loss. It's okay to increase pot size if you miscalculated. Combine ingredients. Set the temperature for a moderate heat. Cooking times will vary depending on the ingredients needed. Strong flavors will mellow over time. Stir often. Cook no longer than you need to.

Suggestions:
be creative
trust you instincts
cry when you want to, laugh when you can
freeze some soup to use as a starter for next time
keep your own soup making journal so you won't forget

Serves: one

We have all experienced grief in our lives. My sister in law recently sent me this book, Tear Soup because my family has expereinced a loss. Thank you Amy. I have made my own tear soup and fortunatley have been able to put some in the freezer for now. We have had wonderful family and friends and no doubt love from above supporting us. Many of you know about my bulb garden and how it relates to my soup...well take a look at this (200+ and counting!):

I love that book. I read it MANY years ago in the waiting room of a therapist's office, and it made an impression on me. I love the pictures and am hoping some of those flowers will stick around through October so I can see them.

That is going to be one pretty flower bed, what type of bush is the big one called? Everything is green and lush in Alabama! It is great to have lots of family and friends to love you and we all do! :)

I love the flower bed and can't wait to see more of what is coming up. I have never heard of that book thanks for the excerpt.
