After a couple days of buckets of rain and wind the sun is back. The last two days have been very dreary and wet. I know we don't have much to complain about, just ask our friends back in Sumner, Washington-check out my friend Leslie's blog for pictures! Mark's coworkers didn't believe him when he told them this (dark and rainy days) is what the whole winter is like in Washington. I always say how much I love the rain and how I'm a true north westerner, but I must admit I am happy to see the sun out today.
Speaking of the Northwest, I have to mention what a beautiful place it is. And moving to Alabama has made me appreciate that even more-Alabama does have it's own beauty; rolling hills, red clay earth & cotton fields, but I'm sorry it does not compare to Mt. Rainier, forests, mossy creeks and endless hiking trials. At church last week I met someone from Georgia and she asked where we were from. I told her Oregon and Washington and she said, "I've heard those states are so pretty!" I was shocked she had not been there, but then reminded myself where I was. I do have to agree with her that the Northwest is pretty and in my book could very well be one of the most beautiful places on the earth!
I love to travel and have been many places (still have many places to go) and often find myself comparing those places with the lush, green, mountainous, river & lake laden Northwest. Mark and I have taken many road trips and he always seems to find the beauty in any place we go. He likes the desert, the farmland, the rolling hills, the mountains, wherever we are he points out something unique. I appreciate this and have come to better appreciate other landscapes because of him. Case in point our drive cross country took us through some very varied lands which we found pleasing on the eyes. But, deep down I'm green. Green as the grass grows, green as the evergreens and pines, green as the ferns and the apples and grapes that grow in my dad's garden, green as the flower stems and even the weeds....I guess it's suitable that my last name is Greenfield, my kitchen accessories are green including my Kitchen Aid and that my birthstone is a Peridot (green). My point being, not that my favorite color is green because it's not. In my heart of hearts I find peace in the beauty of the Northwest.
One of my favorite hymns is "For The Beauty of The Earth" Today I am grateful for the beautiful earth, the land that surrounds me wherever I may be living.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

I love what you wrote. Keep writing, Kim! I am enjoying your thoughts. Never realized all of the "green" you have in your life. I'm so jealous of your sun. We are just drowning over here with no end in sight.
Have a great weekend!
